Handwara Police Crackdown: 5 Drug Peddlers Arrested as Anti-Narcotics Drive Intensifies
Handwara, Mar 27: In a decisive 24-hour offensive against the narcotics trade, Handwara Police has significantly intensified its enforcement operations across the district, resulting in the arrest of five alleged drug peddlers.
The coordinated crackdown saw the registration of 05 separate FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Handwara, Vilgam, and Qalamabad police stations. During these precision strikes, police teams recovered a substantial quantity of contraband, including substances suspected to be heroin and charas, from the possession of the accused.
These arrests mark a major step in the district’s ongoing mission to dismantle local drug trafficking networks and curb substance abuse.The operations were carried out by specialized units across multiple high-risk locations, including the township of Handwara and its adjoining rural belts.
Authorities emphasized that these legal proceedings are part of a broader, zero-tolerance strategy aimed at ensuring a “Nasha Mukt” (Drug-Free) environment for the public.
Reiterating their commitment to public safety, Handwara Police has appealed to the local community to act as the “eyes and ears” of the law by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities.
