Gunfight Erupts in Udhampur: Security Forces Trapped Terrorists in Majalta
UDHAMPUR, February 3, 2026 — A high-stakes encounter broke out between security forces and a group of terrorists in the Jophar-Marta area of Udhampur district on Tuesday.
Following specific intelligence regarding the movement of unidentified suspects in the Johpar-Marta village of Ramnagar Tehsil, a joint team of the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF initiated a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO).
The search operation turned into a direct confrontation when the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security personnel. The forces immediately retaliated, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire in the forested terrain.
To prevent any escape, additional reinforcements have been rushed to the spot, and all exit points of the area have been sealed.
While official confirmation regarding gun fight is still pending, the operation remains active as troops navigate the challenging geography to neutralize the threat.
