Kathua, 05 December :- The Government Railway Police (GRP), Jammu, achieved a significant milestone today with its first-ever conviction resulting in a community service order.
On December 4, 2025, at approximately 2120 hours, a police team from Police station GRP Kathua, while on routine patrolling at the Railway Parking Yard, Kathua, found an individual identified as Bodhan Rishi, S/O Late Johari Rishi, R/O Village Harbhanga, Post Sarsi, Purnia, Bihar, currently residing at Govindsar, Kathua, in a state of intoxication.
The accused was reportedly creating a disturbance, making noise, and causing nuisance in a public area.The police team immediately took action and conducted the medical examination of the individual at GMC Kathua.
On December 5, 2025, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court of the SUB Judge Special Magistrate , Kathua. After reviewing the case diary and relevant documents, the Hon’ble Court issued an order directing the accused to perform community service at Old Age Home Bawaliyan, Kathua.
This order marks the first community service conviction in the history of GRP Jammu, reinforcing the department’s commitment to maintaining discipline, ensuring public safety, and adopting corrective, community-focused approaches in suitable cases.
