Grand Nagar Kirtan in Poonch Marks 359th Parkash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji

POONCH, DECEMBER 28: A spiritually vibrant and grand Nagar Kirtan was organized in Poonch today to celebrate the 359th Parkash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. The procession, which drew thousands of devotees from all walks of life, commenced from the Singh Sabha Gurudwara with the sacred Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji led by the Panj Pyaras (the five beloved ones).

The atmosphere was charged with devotion as Ragi Jathas, including those led by Bhai Parvinder Singh and Bhai Sartaj Singh, recited soulful Gurbani Kirtan. A major highlight of the event was the display of traditional Gatka and Sikh martial arts by local youth, showcasing the martial legacy and spiritual energy associated with the Khalsa Panth.

The event was attended by top administrative and police officials, including DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Tajinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, and SSP Shafaqat Hussain Bhat, reflecting the spirit of communal harmony and administrative support.

Addressing the gathering, Narinder Singh, President of the District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Poonch, and General Secretary Harcharan Singh elaborated on the life, teachings, and unparalleled sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. They emphasized the Guru’s timeless message of courage, equality, and righteousness. Special guest preacher Amarjeet Singh from SGPC Amritsar also delivered an enlightening discourse on the rich legacy of Sikhism, inspiring the Sangat to follow the path of selfless service (Seva).

The DGPC expressed profound gratitude to the district administration and various departments, including Health, JPDCL, PHE, Fire & Emergency Services, and the Municipality, for their seamless coordination in ensuring the event’s success. The Joint Secretary of DGPC, Gurcharan Singh, and AISSF President Paramjeet Singh also addressed the devotees, noting that such celebrations strengthen the social fabric and promote unity within the region.

The grand procession concluded on a high note, leaving the community inspired by the Guru’s vision of a just and inclusive society.
