Geography Department GCW Udhampur hosts Vibrant Rangoli Competition
UDHAMPUR OCTOBER 19,2025: To celebrate Diwali, the Department of Geography, GCW Udhampur, successfully organized a Rangoli Competition for its 5th-semester students. This event aimed to encourage teamwork, hone artistic expression, and enhance cultural appreciation among the participants, bringing vibrant creativity to the campus.
Professor (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, the esteemed College Principal, served as Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address. She offered heartfelt congratulations to the students and praised the organizers for their meticulous execution.
Professor Pathania emphasized the crucial role of extracurricular activities in holistic education and strongly encouraged students to get involved.The competition saw enthusiastic participation from several teams, who transformed the space into a canvas of intricate designs.
Students skillfully utilized natural materials and vibrant colors to create themed Rangolis that, in many instances, incorporated geographical concepts, demonstrating a unique blend of art and academics.
Prof. Pooja Bharti , Head of the Geography Department, praised the students’ efforts. “The creativity and complexity showcased by our 5th semester students were truly exceptional. Events like these are vital in providing a holistic educational experience that goes beyond the classroom, encouraging their aesthetic skills and collaboration,” they stated.
Department evaluated the Rangolis based on creativity, use of colours, adherence to the theme ,and overall presentation. Participants from the 5th semester included Sania Thakur, Sanjeevni, Janvi Verma, and Priya Devi.”The competition was a resounding success, highlighting the immense talent within the Geography department and setting a high standard for future departmental events. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by Divya Sharma from Geography Department.
