General Upendra Dwivedi Reviews Operational Readiness: COAS Praises Military-Civil Fusion and Logistics in Mumbai Visit

MUMBAI, March 02, 2026 — In a high-profile visit to the Headquarters of the Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa Area, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi conducted a comprehensive review of India’s western operational landscape and administrative preparedness.

During the briefing, senior commanders detailed the formation’s advanced training architecture and its strategic focus on maintaining robust rear area security to counter evolving regional threats. A key highlight of the visit was the emphasis on “Military-Civil Fusion,” a seamless integration of defense logistics with civilian infrastructure designed to sustain prolonged military operations and ensure a rapid response capability across the three critical maritime and border states.

General Dwivedi, underscoring the necessity of a cohesive command structure, personally recognized the excellence of the troops by awarding on-the-spot Commendations to four distinguished service personnel for their exceptional performance.

He commended all ranks for their unwavering professionalism and high morale, noting that strong support systems and troop welfare are the bedrock of the Indian Army’s operational success.

As India continues to modernize its defense posture, the COAS’s visit reinforces the strategic importance of the Western Command’s logistics hub in providing the necessary “teeth-to-tail” ratio required for modern warfare and national security.
