Ganderbal Police Recover 46 Stolen Mobile Phones Worth Lakhs; Devices Handed Over to Rightful Owners
GANDERBAL, December 26, 2025: In a major success for digital security and public service, the Cyber Police Station Ganderbal has successfully traced and recovered 46 missing or lost mobile phones, collectively valued at several lakhs of rupees.
The recovery comes after a rigorous four-month operation during which the police received numerous complaints via the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and various local police units.
Under the direct supervision of SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, specialized technical teams were formed to track the devices across different parts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The recovered handsets were formally returned to their rightful owners during a handover ceremony led by SSP Ganderbal, in the presence of Dy.SP Headquarters Ganderbal. This achievement highlights the department’s proficiency in utilizing advanced technical surveillance and field intelligence to resolve public grievances. Residents expressed their gratitude to the police force for restoring their valuable property and personal data, which had been lost in various incidents over the recent months.
Following the event, Ganderbal Police issued an advisory urging the public to remain vigilant while using electronic gadgets to prevent cyber fraud.
Authorities emphasized that any instance of mobile loss or digital crime should be reported immediately through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or directly to the Cyber Police Station Ganderbal.
This operation reinforces the commitment of the district police to safeguard the digital interests of the citizens and maintain a proactive stance against cyber-enabled crimes.
