Ganderbal Police Issues Advisory: Temporary Restrictions Placed on VPN Usage to Ensure Public Safety
Ganderbal January 01, 2026:- The Ganderbal Police has issued a critical public advisory announcing a temporary restriction on the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services across the district with immediate effect.
This directive follows an official order (No. DCG/ADC-PS/2025/2959) issued by the District Magistrate of Ganderbal on December 31, 2025. Authorities have categorized this move as a precautionary and preventive measure, citing the need to safeguard public security, enhance cyber vigilance, and maintain law and order.
By restricting VPNs, the administration aims to curb the potential misuse of encrypted tunnels that can bypass lawful monitoring mechanisms or facilitate activities that pose a risk to the region’s stability.
In light of these new regulations, the general public is strictly advised to comply with the directive and refrain from utilizing VPN applications or services on any digital platforms or personal devices. The advisory warns that any violation of this order will result in stringent legal action under the relevant provisions of the law.
Ganderbal Police has appealed to the residents of the district to act responsibly and extend their full cooperation to the authorities, emphasizing that these temporary measures are essential for the larger interest of peace, welfare, and collective security in the district.
