Ganderbal Police Detain Habitual Hoax Caller for Misusing 112 Emergency Helpline

GANDERBAL, J&K – February 03, 2026The Ganderbal Police have taken decisive legal action against a serial hoax caller for repeatedly abusing the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112). The individual, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Saeed, a resident of Narayanbagh, was detained by the Shadipora Police Post after his latest false report.

Earlier today, Saeed contacted the helpline claiming his wife had been assaulted and required urgent intervention. However, when police units rushed to the scene, they found the suspect’s phone switched off and subsequently verified that the entire complaint was fabricated.

A deeper investigation revealed that Saeed is a habitual offender, having placed at least three other fake distress calls in January 2026 alone. Authorities noted that his deliberate actions were designed to create public panic and divert critical law enforcement resources away from genuine emergencies.

Following statements from his family members confirming his pattern of behavior, police moved to detain him under preventive provisions of the law.

The Ganderbal Police have issued a stern warning to the public, emphasizing that the 112 helpline is a vital lifesaver intended for real crises, and any further misuse will be met with strict legal repercussions.
