Ganderbal Police Crack Down on Unregistered Service Providers in Sonamarg
SONAMARG, February 19: In a proactive move to enhance public safety and preserve the integrity of local tourism, the Ganderbal Police launched a targeted enforcement drive against unregistered service providers operating within the Sonamarg tourist circuit. Focusing specifically on unauthorized photographers, authorities identified and detained 11 individuals operating without valid permits under Sections 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). These individuals were subsequently presented before the Executive Magistrate in Gund for legal processing. Officials emphasized that the crackdown is vital given the security sensitivity of the region, aimed at preventing the exploitation of visitors and ensuring a regulated, hassle-free experience for travelers.
Beyond enforcement, officers from Police Station Sonamarg conducted a comprehensive sensitization program for local vendors and service providers.
