Ganderbal District Issues Medium Intensity Avalanche Advisory for Higher Reaches
GANDERBAL, March 28, 2026 — The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Ganderbal, led by the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, has issued an urgent public safety advisory following forecasts of medium intensity avalanches.
The warning specifically covers areas above an altitude of 2,400 meters and is expected to remain in effect for at least the next 24 hours.
Authorities have urged the general public, including residents, tourists, and nomadic communities, to maintain high vigilance and strictly avoid venturing into avalanche-prone zones, including steep slopes, hilly terrains, and other higher reaches until further notice from the administration.
To ensure public safety and an immediate response to potential crises, the district administration has requested full cooperation with official guidelines and law enforcement.
