Four Kerala Tourists Injured in Awantipora Road Accident; Investigation Underway
AWANTIPORA, Jan 4, 2026: Four tourists from Kerala sustained injuries in a road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Barsoo, Awantipora, early Sunday morning.
According to official reports, the tourists were traveling in a passenger vehicle when it was reportedly struck by an unidentified truck, causing the vehicle to veer off course and leaving the occupants with multiple injuries. Local residents and authorities immediately rushed to the spot to provide assistance and evacuate the victims from the wreckage.
The injured individuals were initially taken to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Pampore for emergency stabilization. Due to the nature of their injuries, they were subsequently referred to the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for specialized medical care.
Hospital officials have confirmed that all four tourists, all residents of Kerala, are currently in stable condition and are responding well to treatment.
Meanwhile, the Awantipora Police have taken formal cognizance of the incident and launched an investigation to identify the truck involved in the hit-and-run, while also examining the circumstances leading to the collision.
