Forest Fire Near LoC in Balakote Triggers Landmine Explosions
Mendhar | March 10, 2026 — A significant forest fire erupted Tuesday morning in the Dadote forward area along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakote sector.
The blaze, which was first reported around 9:55 AM within the jurisdiction of the Balakote Police Post, quickly spread through the sensitive terrain ahead of the border fence.
The intense heat generated by the wildfire reportedly triggered the accidental detonation of two to three landmines planted in the area for border security.
