Flood Crisis Deepens Across Jammu; Samba, Udhampur, and Kathua on High Alert

Jammu 26 August :- A major flood crisis is unfolding across the Jammu region as multiple rivers have surged past critical alarm levels by 12:00 p.m. today. The situation is most severe in District Samba, where the Basantar River is flowing at a historic 9.0 ft, catastrophically above its Evacuation Level and marking the highest water level ever recorded for the stream.

The Devak River in the same district is also above the danger mark of 4.3 ft and is perilously close to the evacuation threshold.

In a dire development, the River Tawi in Udhampur is flowing a massive 7 feet above its Evacuation Level, the highest possible alarm category.

District Kathua is also under severe threat, with the Tarnah River reaching its Danger level and Ujh Nallah at Panjtirthi and Kathua flowing above Evacuation Levels. While the Tawi in Jammu city has touched the Alert Level, the Chenab at Akhnoor remains slightly below its Flood Alert Level.

The situation is being closely monitored as the region braces for potential further rainfall.
