Flash flood causes widespread destruction at Surankote high School in Poonch; officials value the damage

Poonch, 12 August :- A catastrophic flash flood, triggered by heavy overnight rain on August 11–12, caused havoc at Government High School Sanai in the Poonch district’s Surankote tehsil.

The flash deluge caused extensive structural damage, inundating a 200-foot-long shed near the school building completely and sweeping away the sports room, which contained vital records, certificates, and sports gear.

The local authorities confirmed that although the flash flood resulted in heavy material loss, there were neither casualties nor injuries. The Police Team of near by police station moved quickly to the area to assess the level of destruction.

The authorities have promised the public that quick action will be taken to fortify the school infrastructure and apply preventive measures to avoid risking such disasters in the future.
