LEH, JANUARY 28, 2026 – In a significant move to bolster winter sports and empower local youth, the Fire and Fury Corps successfully organized the Operation Sadbhavana Ice Hockey Championship 2026.
Held on January 27–28, the tournament featured eight competitive teams drawn from some of Ladakh’s most remote border villages. This initiative under Operation Sadbhavana highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to nurturing athletic talent in high-altitude regions and providing a platform for young sportspersons to showcase their skills on a grand stage.
The two-day event culminated in a high-energy finale that drew massive support from the local community and enthusiastic youth spectators. Sudhanshu Sharma, Chief of Staff of the Fire and Fury Corps, presided over the closing ceremony, where he felicitated the winning team and standout individual players for their exceptional grit and sportsmanship.
By promoting ice hockey—a sport deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of Ladakh—the Fire and Fury Corps continues to strengthen the bond between the armed forces and the civilian population while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and national pride.
