Faridkot Police Bust Major Heroin Ring Involving Army and Former Police Personnel

FARIDKOT, PUNJAB Feb 22 – In a significant crackdown on narcotics smuggling, the Faridkot Police have dismantled a sophisticated heroin trafficking network following a meticulous two-month investigation.

The operation, which relied heavily on jail-based intelligence and interceptions, resulted in the arrest of six individuals, including an active-duty Army soldier and a dismissed police officer.During the operation, law enforcement seized 4.8 kg of heroin, one illegal weapon, and two high-end vehicles—a Mahindra Thar and an XUV.

Authorities revealed that the apprehended suspects have a history of criminal activity and are linked to multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.An FIR has been officially registered, and investigators are currently working to trace the network’s broader connections.

The Punjab Police stated that the focus is now on establishing “forward and backward linkages” to identify suppliers and distributors further up the chain. This bust underscores the ongoing commitment of state forces to eradicate organized drug syndicates and maintain regional security.
