Fake SSP Exposed: Anantnag Police Arrest Man Posing as Senior Officer in Kokernag

Anantnag, Oct 24: In a dramatic catch, Anantnag Police arrested a man posing as a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in the Kokernag area on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Mohd Umer Mochi, son of Mohd Jamal Mochi, resident of Zalangam, was intercepted during routine checking. Police said the suspect tried to flee but was swiftly apprehended. A police uniform with SSP insignia was recovered from his bag.

Preliminary investigation revealed he was using the uniform to impersonate a senior officer and deceive the public. A case under FIR No. 118/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kokernag, and further investigation is underway.Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any such impersonation attempts.
