Exercise SURAKSHA 2025–26: Indian Army and DRDO Conclude Major Joint CBRN Disaster Management Drill in Dehradun
Dehradun, Mar 27: The biennial military exercise SURAKSHA 2025–26 culminated successfully at Birpur, Dehradun, marking a significant milestone in India’s specialized disaster response capabilities.
The drill showcased high-level operational synergy between the Golden Key Sappers, the Sabse Aage Brigade, and various national stakeholders under the aegis of the Golden Key Division. Guided by the Sanskrit motto “Udyamena hi sidhyanti karyani na manorathaih” (Success is achieved through hard work, not just desires), the exercise focused on validating advanced protocols and enhancing interoperability among multiple defense and civil agencies to tackle modern emerging threats.
Conducted in rigorous coordination with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and other central and state bodies, the exercise specifically targeted preparedness for complex CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) contingencies.
Through simulated high-risk scenarios and synchronized field responses, participants practiced the containment and neutralization of hazardous threats using cutting-edge technological integration.
By reinforcing joint operational capabilities, Exercise SURAKSHA stands as a testament to the Indian Army’s proactive commitment to disaster management and multi-agency cohesion, ensuring a decisive and effective response to any unconventional national security challenge.
