EOW Kashmir Files Case Against Two for Securing SKIMS MBBS Admission via Fake PWD and EWS Certificates
SRINAGAR, February 3, 2026 — The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has registered a formal criminal case against two individuals accused of using forged “Person with Disability” (PWD) and “Economically Weaker Section” (EWS) certificates to secure a seat in the 2023 MBBS batch at SKIMS Soura.
Following a tip-off, a preliminary verification revealed that a resident of Ajas, Bandipora—who is neither physically nor mentally disabled—conspired with another individual from Sumbal to procure the fraudulent documents, which were then used to bypass competitive merit for medical admission.
Officials confirmed that the actions of the accused fall under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), 471 (using forged documents), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy), prompting the registration of a formal FIR at the EOW Police Station in Srinagar as investigations continue to uncover the full extent of the fraud.
