JAMMU, JANUARY 18: Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, declared today that the remarkable achievements of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth serve as a powerful testament to the impact of fair opportunities and modern infrastructure.
Speaking at the SRIJAN initiative conference, the Minister emphasized that the programme is successfully paving the way for an inclusive sporting ecosystem by expanding grassroots facilities and ensuring transparent, merit-based selections across the Union Territory.
He noted that by integrating sports with education and skill development, the government is transforming athletics into a dignified and sustainable career path. A major highlight of his address was the announcement of plans to create international-standard facilities, including state-of-the-art cricket stadiums in both Jammu and Srinagar, alongside the strengthening of Khelo India Centres and the promotion of traditional sports like Dangal.
Minister Satish Sharma further reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for young athletes, urging them to dream fearlessly and train with discipline. He highlighted that the SRIJAN mission is specifically designed to enhance the participation of girls and ensure that talent from the remotest mountains of Kashmir to the plains of Jammu receives equal exposure on national and international platforms.

The conference, attended by Director General of Youth Services and Sports Anuradha Gupta and various senior officials, concluded with a resolve to use sports as a primary vehicle for youth empowerment, social inclusion, and regional pride.
