Dubai Police Issue Urgent Alert: Scammers Impersonating Crisis Management Officials to Steal UAE Pass and EID Data
DUBAI, March 02, 2026 — In a high-priority security warning, the Dubai Police have alerted the public to a sophisticated new fraudulent scheme where cybercriminals are exploiting current regional tensions to steal sensitive personal information.
Fraudsters are reportedly impersonating employees of a fabricated “Dubai Crisis Management” department, claiming an official affiliation with the Dubai Police to gain the trust of their targets.
The primary objective of these scammers is to unlawfully obtain UAE Pass credentials and Emirates ID (EID) details. Authorities have warned that once this information is compromised, criminals can execute “SIM swap” fraud, allowing them to seize control of a victim’s mobile number, bypass security protocols, and gain full access to their bank accounts via mobile banking applications.
The Dubai Police have categorically stated that official government entities never request confidential data, passwords, or verification codes through phone calls or text messages. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and avoid sharing any personal or financial information with unverified callers, regardless of how professional or official they may sound.
To combat this surge in digital identity theft, the public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately through official channels by calling 901 or utilizing the eCrime platform.
This alert comes as part of the UAE’s broader commitment to protecting its residents from evolving cyber threats during periods of regional uncertainty.
