Ganderbal 06 October :- The Drugs Control Department Ganderbal has intensified inspections of medical shops to ensure strict implementation of the revised GST slab and to direct chemists to pass on the benefit of the same to the common people.The intensified drive was also carried out in compliance with the directions of the Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, J&K, and the Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration, J&K, regarding raising awareness among chemists about the prohibition on dispensing cough and cold syrups to children aged between 2 and 5 years.
The department also emphasized the importance of lifting samples of cough syrups for testing to safeguard children from possible syrup toxicity.During the inspection, thorough checking was conducted in various medical establishments located near District Hospital Ganderbal. Two cough syrup samples were lifted for testing, and all chemists were categorically directed not to dispense any cough or cold syrups meant for children above 2 years and below 5 years of age.The Drugs Control Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality medicines to the public and maintaining strict vigilance to protect public health.
