Drug Peddler Arrested in Udhampur: 560 Psychotropic Capsules Seized by Police
UDHAMPUR, March 21, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a significant haul of psychotropic substances within the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur.
During a routine security check conducted near the Head Post Office, a police team intercepted a suspicious individual. Upon conducting a thorough search of the suspect, officers recovered 560 Pregabalin capsules, which were being carried without any legal authorization or medical prescription.
The accused has been identified as Ravinder Kumar, son of Tara Chand, a resident of Sayal Sallan, Udhampur. He was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband was seized on the spot.
Following the recovery, the Udhampur Police reported the matter to the Assistant Controller of Drugs, Udhampur, for further legal proceedings and necessary action under the relevant provisions of the law.
This arrest is part of the ongoing intensified efforts by Police to curb the illegal trade of pharmaceutical drugs in the region.
