NEW DELHI, December 31: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) marked a significant leap in India’s tactical missile capabilities today by successfully conducting a salvo launch of two Pralay missiles in quick succession.
Launched at approximately 10:30 AM from the Integrated Test Range off the coast of Odisha, the flight tests were part of critical user evaluation trials. Both missiles utilized a single launcher and flawlessly followed their intended trajectories, meeting all mission objectives.
Performance was confirmed by advanced tracking sensors at Chandipur and ship-based telemetry systems near the impact points, validating the missile’s high-precision guidance and state-of-the-art navigation systems.
Pralay is an indigenously developed, solid-propellant quasi-ballistic missile designed to strike various targets with multiple types of warheads. The project is a collaborative triumph involving the Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in Hyderabad, multiple DRDO laboratories, and production partners Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh complimented the joint efforts of the DRDO, the Indian Army, and the Indian Air Force, stating that the successful salvo launch confirms the missile’s exceptional reliability.
Echoing this sentiment, DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat noted that this achievement signals the system’s imminent readiness for formal induction into the Indian Armed Forces.
