DRASS, LADAKH | January 21, 2026In a significant move toward strengthening community healthcare and emergency preparedness, a joint Civil-Military Medical Training initiative was successfully organized at Dras under the motto “Preparedness Saves Lives.” This collaborative effort, led by the “Drass Healers,” focused on empowering local healthcare frontline workers to handle critical medical situations in the challenging Himalayan terrain.
By bridging the gap between military expertise and civil healthcare, the program underscores the commitment of the Indian Army to support and uplift the local population through knowledge sharing and capacity building.
During the comprehensive training session, more than 24 ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers underwent rigorous, hands-on instruction in vital emergency protocols. The training modules included triage management, Basic Life Support (BLS), advanced first aid techniques, and efficient casualty evacuation procedures.
By mastering these skills, the ASHA workers are now better equipped to provide immediate assistance during the “golden hour” of medical emergencies. This initiative has significantly enhanced the region’s capacity for a timely and coordinated response, ensuring that the local community in Dras is more resilient and prepared for healthcare challenges.
