Dr. K. Sanjay Kumar Assumes Command as Inspector General of ITBP Eastern Frontier; Clay Khongsai Receives Emotional Farewell

ITANAGAR, March 8, 2026 — In a formal change of guard ceremony, Dr. K. Sanjay Kumar, IPS, officially took over the charge as the Inspector General (IG) of the Eastern Frontier of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

The transition was marked by the traditional handing over of the ceremonial baton by the outgoing Inspector General, Clay Khongsai, IPS, signifying the transfer of leadership for the crucial frontier responsible for guarding India’s high-altitude borders.

Dr. Kumar, known for his administrative acumen, steps into the role at a time when the Eastern Frontier remains a strategic priority for national security and border management.

The event was also an emotional milestone for the “Himveers” of the Eastern Frontier, as they bid a heartfelt and respectful farewell to Khongsai.

Personnel from various ranks gathered to honor his leadership and contributions during his tenure, acknowledging his commitment to the welfare of the troops and the operational efficiency of the force.
