Don’t Like Your Face? ED Case, You’re Gone in 30 Days”: LoP Gandhi’s Scathing Attack on New UT Bill

New Delhi 20th August :- In a sharp critique on Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi lambasted the Modi government’s proposed Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, equating it to a return to “medieval times when the king could just remove anybody at will.”

Addressing the INDIA bloc, Gandhi argued the bill undermines democracy by allowing the central government to effortlessly remove elected officials, a process he claims is already enabled by weaponizing agencies like the ED to file cases against those who fall out of favor. He connected this to the recent change in the Vice President’s office, questioning the disappearance of the previous holder.

Framing the current political struggle as a battle between attackers and defenders of the Constitution, Gandhi praised VP nominee G. Reddy, highlighting his work on social justice and recounting an anecdote where Reddy revealed he has carried a pocket Constitution for 52 years, believing it holds the final answer in any legal matter.
