Doda Students from Remote Areas Meet Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather to Advocate for Better School Facilities

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 03, 2026 – A group of students representing schools from the far-flung and remote corners of Doda district called on the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, at the Assembly Secretariat today to discuss the educational challenges facing their region.

During an insightful interaction, the students highlighted a significant digital and infrastructural divide, noting that their schools lack essential modern facilities such as smart classrooms, updated science laboratories, computer systems, and basic furniture like desks.

They urged the government to provide better resources in remote areas to ensure they receive equal opportunities to compete with their peers in more urbanized locations.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather listened to their grievances and assured the delegation that their concerns regarding infrastructure and maintenance would be formally taken up with the concerned Minister for immediate redressal.

The students also had the unique opportunity to witness the live proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, gaining firsthand knowledge of its working and conduct, and expressed their sincere gratitude to the Speaker for providing them with a platform to voice their aspirations and learn about the democratic process.
