Doda Police Launch Major Crackdown on Illegal E-Rickshaws to Enhance Road Safety

DODA, February 16, 2026: In a decisive move to restore traffic discipline and ensure public safety, the Doda Police, in coordination with the Traffic Wing, executed a massive enforcement drive against illegal and unregulated e-rickshaws across Doda town.

Following the direct instructions of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), the operation was spearheaded by the SHO of Police Station Doda and the DySP Traffic. The crackdown specifically targeted the growing menace of unauthorized e-auto operations that have contributed to significant traffic congestion and heightened risks for pedestrians and commuters in the region.

During the high-intensity drive, authorities booked more than 50 violators for a range of offenses, including overloading, operating without valid documentation, and severe route permit violations.

Several e-rickshaws were seized under the Motor Vehicles Act for failing to meet prescribed safety norms. SSP Doda issued a stern warning that these enforcement measures would continue, specifically cautioning that legal action will be taken against vehicle owners and guardians who allow minors to drive these e-autos.

By reinforcing strict compliance with traffic regulations, the Doda Police aim to prevent road mishaps and ensure a smooth, disciplined flow of transport throughout the district.
