Doda Police Host Grand Finale of Women’s T-20 Cricket Tournament Under CAP 2025–26
DODA | January 21, 2026:- In a significant move to empower youth and promote gender inclusivity in sports, the Doda Police successfully concluded the Grand Finale of the T-20 Women’s Cricket Tournament today at the Sports Stadium, Doda. Organized under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26, the event aimed to channelize the energy of young women into constructive and healthy pursuits.
The high-stakes final was played between Green Champs Doda and Dronacharya Cricket Academy Doda, with the latter emerging as the champions. The winners were honored with a trophy and a cash prize of ₹25,000, while the runners-up received ₹15,000, alongside participation certificates for all athletes involved.
The closing ceremony featured Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh (IAS), and Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), as special guests.
The tournament, which saw six teams compete in a league-cum-knockout format, was held under the supervision of ASP Headquarters Doda, Mohd Aslam, serving as the Nodal Officer.
While addressing the large gathering of civil society members and media, DC Harvinder Singh lauded the tournament as a celebration of determination and a reflection of a progressive mindset in the district. He emphasized that such initiatives are vital for instilling discipline and leadership qualities in young girls.
Reiterating the police department’s commitment to social welfare, SSP Sandeep Mehta highlighted that the core objective of the CAP initiatives is to nurture local talent while steering the youth away from drug abuse and other social evils.
He noted that the J&K Police remains dedicated to building strong police-public relations through inclusive platforms that allow women to showcase their sporting prowess.
The event concluded with a call for participants to continue their dedication to sports and represent the district at national levels, marking a successful chapter in Doda’s community engagement efforts.
