DODA, DECEMBER 27: In a crackdown on the unauthorized use of restricted mobile applications, the Doda Police have booked two individuals in separate incidents for allegedly using Virtual Private Network (VPN) apps. These actions were taken following the violation of specific prohibitory orders previously issued by the District Magistrate of Doda. The first incident occurred at the Bagla Main Market, where a routine patrol team from the Bhagla Bharth Police Post apprehended Khalid Abrar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Butt.
Upon inspection of his mobile device, he was found using a VPN application and failed to provide a satisfactory justification for its use. Consequently, an FIR (No. 279/2025) has been registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Doda.In a similar enforcement action in the Gandoh area, police officials spotted another individual identified as Mohd Irfan, son of Abdul Latief, using a VPN application near Shali Pul. Irfan, a resident of Tehsil Chilli, was also found to be in direct contravention of the administrative ban. This led to the registration of a second case, FIR No. 125/2025, under the same section of the BNS at Police Station Gandoh.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations into both cases are currently underway to determine the extent of the violations.The Doda Police have issued a public appeal urging residents to strictly adhere to the directives issued by the District Administration.
