Doda Drug Bust: Police Apprehend Peddler and Seize Over Half a Kilogram of Charas Near Ganpat Bridge
DODA, JAN 18: In a decisive move to curb the narcotics trade under the “#DrugFreeDoda” initiative, the Doda Police successfully arrested a drug peddler and recovered 578 grams of a charas-like substance on Sunday.
Acting on the strategic directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta, a police team established a targeted checkpoint and traffic intercept at Ganpat Bridge.
During the operation, officers noticed an individual, identified as Shravan Kumar from Chilly Bhalesa, acting suspiciously near a shed. Although the suspect attempted to flee upon spotting the police party, he was quickly intercepted and apprehended, alongside the seizure of his vehicle.
A personal search of the accused led to the discovery of the contraband hidden within a white plastic bag. Following his failure to provide a legitimate explanation for possessing the narcotics, the police registered FIR No. 18/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Doda.
Authorities have launched an in-depth investigation to map out the supply chain and identify potential accomplices in the trafficking network. Reaffirming their zero-tolerance policy, the Doda Police have urged the public to report any drug-related activities, promising that the identity of informants will remain strictly confidential to ensure community safety.
