Udhampur 07 November :-In a proactive step to enhance security and tackle issues related to unauthorized SIM card distributions, District Police Udhampur conducted a comprehensive inspection drive targeting SIM card vendor outlets in Udhampur, Rehambal, Ramnagar, Majalta area.
This initiative aims to strengthen the verification process for new SIM registrations and curb the potential misuse of mobile connectivity.The drive involved thorough inspections of local SIM vendors to ensure adherence to guidelines/norms issued by the Department of Telecommunications. The inspections focused on ensuring that SIM cards are issued only after thorough verification of customers’ identities and address.
During inspection, Vendors were also instructed to maintain accurate records of all transactions and about the correct procedures for collecting and verifying documents such as Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and other valid proofs of identity.
SSP Udhampur, Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, emphasized that negligence or non-compliance with KYC (Know Your Customer) guidelines could result in strict action, including legal proceedings.Udhampur Police will continue to monitor the situation and conduct further inspections as needed to maintain integrity of SIM cards distribution in the district.
