DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Chairs Strategic Crime Review; Sets ‘Drug-Free District’ Goal for 2026

UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 22, 2026: In a major move to fortify regional security and streamline judicial outcomes, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sarah Rizvi, IPS, chaired a high-level Operations-cum-Crime Review Meeting at the District Police Lines (DPL) Udhampur.

Attended by SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure and other senior officers, the session featured a meticulous station-wise analysis of crime trends. The DIG mandated a zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics and organized crime, specifically tasking officers with achieving a “Drug-Free District” status and targeting the financial assets of criminals as a primary objective for 2026.

The review covered a broad spectrum of security concerns, including Over Ground Worker (OGW) activities, militant threats, cybercrime, and crimes against women. DIG Rizvi emphasized the necessity for quality investigations and effective prosecution to significantly improve conviction rates.

With Republic Day approaching, the meeting also served as a platform to fine-tune security protocols. Directions were issued for intensified highway surveillance, robust “Naka” checking, and enhanced area domination to ensure a seamless security blanket across the district.

Beyond reactive policing, the DIG underscored the importance of prompt grievance redressal and the timely disposal of departmental inquiries to maintain internal transparency. By strengthening intelligence networks and increasing patrolling, the Udhampur Police aim to create a proactive defense against both conventional and digital threats.

The session concluded with a directive for all Station House Officers (SHOs) and In-charge Police Posts to ensure the highest standards of professional conduct and inter-agency coordination in the coming months.
