DIG Sarah Rizvi Conducts Comprehensive Crime Review in Reasi District

REASI, March 19, 2026 — Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Udhampur–Reasi Range, Sarah Rizvi, chaired a high-level crime review meeting in Katra to evaluate the security landscape and investigative progress of District Reasi.

Attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Paramvir Singh and several high-ranking departmental officials, the session focused on critical policing metrics, including the disposal of pending cases, inquest proceedings, and specific actions taken against drug peddling and bovine smuggling.

The SSP provided a comprehensive briefing on the status of ongoing NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) investigations, highlighting strategic measures aimed at boosting conviction rates and ensuring the swift delivery of justice for the public.

A significant portion of the review was dedicated to the modernization of local law enforcement through the effective implementation of new criminal laws and digital policing tools.

DIG Rizvi emphasized the integration of platforms such as e-Sakshya, e-Summons, and Zero FIR to streamline administrative workflows. Strict directives were issued regarding investigative timelines—specifically those requiring completion within 60 to 90 days—while stressing the importance of forensic precision through timely FSL visits and the use of the MedLeaPR platform for medico-legal accuracy.

The DIG commended the Reasi District Police for their improved disposal rates in heinous crimes and narcotics cases but urged continued vigilance. To deter anti-social elements, she ordered an intensification of random “naka” (checkpoint) searches and reinforced the need for robust security protocols around religious sites and vital installations.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from SSP Paramvir Singh to execute these directives with professional dedication, focusing on curbing organized crime and maintaining public order across the district.
