SRINAGAR, January 19, 2026: In a decisive move to fortify the security apparatus ahead of the national celebrations, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, IPS, presided over an exhaustive general security review meeting today at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir.
The high-level gathering served as a strategic hub to synchronize intelligence and operational readiness, ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for Republic Day-2026 festivities throughout the Valley.
The meeting saw a massive assembly of top brass from various wings of the security grid. Key attendees included the Special DG Coordination, JD IB J&K/L, IG BSF Ftr. Hqrs, IGP Kashmir Zone, IG CRPF Srinagar, Addl. Commissioner SB Srinagar, and DIG SSB Srinagar. The collective expertise was further bolstered by the presence of DIsG CRPF South/North Srinagar, DIG Armed Kashmir, all range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, and DIG RPF Kashmir. Ensuring grassroots coordination, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone, Col GS (IS) 15 Corps, and SSsP representing Traffic City Srinagar, PCR Kashmir, GRP Kashmir, Traffic Rural Kashmir, CID SBK, CID CIK, Security Kashmir, and APCR Srinagar participated in the deliberations.
During the session, DGP Nalin Prabhat meticulously assigned specific responsibilities, emphasizing “precise execution” across crowd management, traffic regulation, and the protection of vulnerable targets. He issued a stern directive to district heads to maintain a “vigilant eye on social media” to intercept misinformation.
Furthermore, the DGP ordered intensified surveillance of anti-national elements and enhanced area domination. Special instructions were given to SSP Security Kashmir to implement an ironclad security plan at the main venue, while the Traffic and Railway wings were tasked with ensuring the uninterrupted movement of the public and protected persons across highways and railway networks.
