SHOPIAN January 21, 2026:- Director General of Police Jammu & Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, chaired a high-level security review meeting today at the District Police Office (DPO) Shopian to evaluate the current security landscape and ongoing anti-terror operations.
The meeting focused on operational preparedness in the South Kashmir region ahead of the upcoming Republic Day 2026 celebrations. Attended by top officials including Special DGP Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi, and DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo, the session served as a strategic platform to synchronize law and order management with counter-terrorism efforts across the district.
During the briefing, Nalin Prabhat conducted an in-depth analysis of crime control measures and security grid strengthening. He issued a clear mandate for heightened alertness and intensified area domination, emphasizing that intelligence-led operations are critical to maintaining peace and preventing any disruption by anti-national elements.
The DGP reiterated a policy of zero tolerance toward activities threatening national security, directing officers to deal decisively with threats while simultaneously maintaining a professional and people-friendly policing approach.
The review concluded with specific instructions to SSP Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary and local SHOs to ensure foolproof security planning for public events. By prioritizing robust surveillance and proactive ground intelligence, the J&K Police aim to ensure a secure environment for citizens during the national festivities.
