Kupwara & Barmulla 19 August :- Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (DGNCC) accompanied by Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, VSM, ADG JK&L Dte visited 7 J&K BN NCC, Kupwara & 3 J&K BN NCC, Baramulla on 19 August 2025.
The visit held special significance, as the General Officer had previously commanded the esteemed Dagger Division in the region.The day began with an impressive Guard of Honour by the NCC Cadets of 7 J&K Battalion, Kupwara. Thereafter a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was organised at the Dagger War Memorial, where Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh paid homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The event was marked by a ceremonial presentation of arms in a poignant tribute to the fallen heroes, by the NCC Cadets of 3 J&K Battalion, NCC.At both the locations DGNCC addressed NCC Cadets, Permanent Instructor (PI) Staff, Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), and Heads of Institutions. He lauded their commitment to community service and nation-building, emphasizing the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline” and urging all cadets to be self disciplined with never give up attitude to uphold the spirit of “Nation First” in their conduct as Kupwara & Baramulla cadets are a source of inspiration for others for their selfless attitude displayed during Op Sindoor.
During his address, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh informed the gathering that due to growing demand for NCC four new NCC Battalions have recently been raised under the JK&L Dte. He further highlighted that to align with future requirements, NCC syllabus has been recently revised incorporating modern technologies, further skill based training has been enhanced. Based on feedback received, No of mountaineering & adventure courses have been increased. He urged cadets to remain fit, give due importance to their health and self discipline and strive to become responsible citizens of the Nation.
Outstanding NCC Cadets, ANOs and PI Staff were felicitated for their achievements in NCC activities, sports and their exemplary contributions during Operation SINDOOR.The visit of DG NCC proved highly inspiring and motivating for all participants.
