DURGAPUR April 3, 2026:- In a major push to ensure the integrity of the upcoming 2026 Assembly Elections (AE-2026), Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Praveer Ranjan, conducted a comprehensive high-level review of security preparedness and inter-agency coordination in Durgapur, West Bengal.
Accompanied by Sudhir Kumar, ADG (North), and Dr. Shikhar Sahai, IG (NES-II), the DG’s visit on April 2 served as a critical assessment of the ground-level readiness of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). During his transit, DG Ranjan held strategic discussions with Special Observer N. K. Mishra and Special Roll Observer Subrata Gupta to align security protocols with the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, emphasizing a unified approach to maintaining law and order during the high-stakes polling period.
Upon arriving in Durgapur, where he was received with a Guard of Honour by DIG Ruchi Anand, the DG chaired an intensive review meeting with top brass from the CISF, CRPF, and Intelligence Bureau. The agenda focused on optimizing supervisory leadership, executing effective confidence-building measures among voters, and refining logistical plans for a seamless poll-day operation.
Key officials, including Nadeem Ahmad Samdani of the CRPF and Dharmendra Prasad from the IB, contributed to the briefing, which prioritized robust communication channels between different security wings to mitigate potential risks and ensure a peaceful voting environment across the sensitive industrial belt of West Bengal.
The visit concluded with a morale-boosting address at the CRPF Group Centre in Durgapur, where the DG interacted with personnel representing 26 CAPF companies from the CISF, CRPF, and Rapid Action Force (RAF).
Invoking the spirit of “One Election Force,” Praveer Ranjan urged the troops to remain vigilant and professional in their duties. He underscored that the primary objective of their deployment is to facilitate a free, fair, and transparent democratic process, reinforcing the commitment of the central forces to safeguard the electoral rights of the citizens against any intimidation or malpractice.
