LUNGLEI (MIZORAM), Feb 05, 2026 – Strengthening operational oversight and personnel welfare in the Northeast, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles, conducted a high-level visit to the Assam Rifles units stationed at Lunglei and Parva on February 4, 2026.
A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of a newly constructed Riflewomen Barrack, a move that underscores the force’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure and improving living conditions for its growing number of women personnel.
This development is part of a broader initiative to ensure that welfare facilities keep pace with the evolving demographic of the “Sentinels of the Northeast.”During his tour, the Director General engaged in comprehensive interactions with the troops deployed in these strategic locations.
Lt Gen Lakhera lauded the personnel for their unwavering professionalism, high state of operational readiness, and steadfast dedication to duty in challenging terrains.
