Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Highlights Sports as Key to Youth Development in Jammu
JAMMU, December 29, 2025: Emphasizing the transformative power of sports, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today presided over the closing ceremony of the 29th UT Billiards and Snooker Championship 2025.
Held at the Billiards & Snooker Hall within the MA Stadium, the event was also attended by Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma and Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister.
The Deputy Chief Minister felicitated the winners and participants, praising the Billiards & Snooker Association of J&K for organizing a high-caliber tournament that saw nearly 200 players from across the Union Territory compete for top honors.
During his address, Surinder Choudhary underscored that sports are essential for maintaining physical and mental fitness and serve as a powerful tool to channelize the energy of the youth toward constructive goals. He reaffirmed the Jammu and Kashmir government’s commitment to building world-class sports infrastructure in every district, ensuring that local talent has the platform to excel at both national and international levels.
Accompanied by Secretary of the J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul, the Deputy Chief Minister assured continued administrative support to sporting bodies to nurture a vibrant sports culture and empower the next generation of athletes in the region.
