Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Announces Two New Industrial Estates for Pattan in Baramulla

Jammu, February 18, 2026 — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary officially announced the establishment of two major industrial estates in the Pattan Constituency of Baramulla district to bolster regional economic growth.

While responding to a legislative query raised by MLA Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah on behalf of Javaid Riyaz (Bedar), the Deputy Chief Minister confirmed that 240 kanals of land have been successfully transferred to the Industries & Commerce Department for the 2024-25 period. This development includes a 150-kanal site at Wussan Khoie and a 90-kanal plot in Pattan proper.

The initiative aims to create a structured environment for local entrepreneurship and large-scale industrial activity in North Kashmir.Highlighting the high investor interest in the region, the Deputy Chief Minister informed the House that 42 applications for land allotment have already been submitted via the Jammu & Kashmir Single Window Portal as of January 18, 2026.

These proposals have undergone evaluation by the Divisional Level Appraisal Committee and are now set for final review by the High Level Land Allotment Committee. Allotments will be granted based on a “Merit-Cum-Preference” framework to ensure transparency and efficiency.

The government remains committed to implementing robust operational strategies for these estates, ensuring they serve as catalysts for job creation and sustainable industrial development within the district.
