Delhi Court Remands LeT Handler Shabir Ahmed Lone to 7-Day Judicial Custody

NEW DELHI, April 04, 2026: A Delhi court on Saturday ordered that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handler Shabir Ahmed Lone be sent to seven days of judicial custody following a formal plea by the city police.

Lone, who is a resident of Srinagar and operates under the aliases “Raja” and “Kashmiri,” was previously held in five days of police custody after his arrest on March 29 from the Ghazipur area.

The arrest was executed by the New Delhi range of the Special Cell in connection with an LeT-backed module that surfaced in February, following the discovery of pro-Pakistan and pro-terror posters at high-profile locations in the national capital, including the Janpath metro station.

Describing Lone as a “hardcore and highly trained terrorist,” the Delhi Police stated that he had established deep operational links with handlers working on behalf of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Investigators allege that Lone was the primary handler for a recently busted module responsible for disseminating anti-national materials across both Delhi and Kolkata.

The transition to judicial custody will allow authorities to continue their legal proceedings as they work to dismantle the remaining networks of the module, which was designed to incite unrest through synchronized propaganda efforts across major Indian cities.
