Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrives in Jammu to assess Kishtwar flood situation

Jammu, 24 August :– Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Jammu on a day-long visit on Sunday to take stock of the situation in the flood-affected areas of the Kishtwar district. He was accompanied by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh.The high-level delegation was received at the Jammu airport by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, along with senior officials from the civil administration and armed forces.

The primary focus of the visit is to conduct an aerial survey of the regions in Kishtwar that have been severely impacted by recent flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall. The calamity has caused significant damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and homes, and has disrupted normal life.Following the aerial survey, the ministers are expected to chair a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor and senior officials to review the rescue and relief operations currently underway.

The meeting will aim to assess the extent of the damage and strategize a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for the affected populace.
