DC Rajesh Sharma Launches National Deworming Day in Kathua to Benefit 1.90 Lakh Children
Kathua, April 13: Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma officially launched the National Deworming Day campaign today at PM Shri Government Middle School, Kathua-A, marking the start of a district-wide health initiative running through April 18. The intensive drive aims to administer deworming tablets to approximately 1.90 lakh children and adolescents aged 1 to 19 years across all government schools, private institutions, and Anganwadi Centres.
Emphasizing the critical nature of the program, the Deputy Commissioner explained that intestinal worm infections pose a significant threat to a child’s nutritional status, often leading to anaemia and stunted physical or cognitive growth.
To ensure seamless execution, dedicated field teams have been deployed to systematically cover every educational and childcare hub in the district.
Joined by Chief Medical Officer Vijay Raina and Chief Education Officer Kewal Krishan, the Deputy Commissioner urged parents and guardians to proactively support the campaign to ensure every eligible child receives the medication for a healthier, worm-free future.
