Labour Department takes Special Initiative under Sewa Parv
KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 18: In a significant welfare initiative under Sewa Parv, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today handed over cheques amounting to ₹10.57 lakh to registered workers under the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner, while handing over the assistance, underlined the government’s resolve towards the welfare and upliftment of the unorganized sector workers who form the backbone of infrastructure development.
He said that the financial aid extended under JKBOCWWB provides vital support to workers for education of children, health assistance, marriage support, pension benefits and relief at the time of any exigency.
The DC further emphasized the need to intensify awareness to bring all eligible workers in the ambit of welfare schemes. He directed the Labour Department to ensure handholding of workers in completing formalities so that timely benefits are delivered at their doorstep.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Piyusha Khajuria informed that a special registration drive under JKBOCWWB has been launched as part of the fortnight-long SEWA PARV. She said that workers are being mobilized and sensitized about the bouquet of welfare schemes available under the Board, ranging from scholarships for students to financial aid for critical health treatments and social security pensions.
