SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 28: In a targeted operation against digital crimes, the Cyber Police Srinagar conducted a high-profile raid in the Rajbagh area on Sunday, resulting in the detention of two individuals and the seizure of significant evidence.
According to senior police officials, the raid targeted a specific location where investigators recovered a substantial cache of office-related documents and various electronic equipment. The operation is part of an ongoing crackdown on cyber-related offenses within the city, aiming to dismantle networks involved in fraudulent digital activities.
The two individuals taken into custody have been identified as Zaffar Ahmad Mir, a local resident of Aramwari, Rajbagh, and Sudeep, a native of Nepal who was currently residing in the same neighborhood. The detentions were made in connection with FIR No. 20/2025, which cites violations under Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act—pertaining to cheating by personation using computer resources—alongside Section 112 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following the seizures, the electronic devices have been sent for forensic analysis to uncover the extent of the alleged illegal operations. A police officer confirmed that the investigation is currently in its active phase, with authorities looking into potential links to larger syndicates.
The Cyber Police have reiterated their commitment to securing the digital space and have urged the public to report any suspicious online or office-based technical activities immediately.
