JAMMU, FEBRUARY 10, 2026: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fulfilling its electoral promises, asserting that the Budget 2026–27 provides a comprehensive roadmap for inclusive social justice and sustained economic development.
While responding to the budget discussion in the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister announced the landmark decision to initiate the regularization of daily-rated workers within this year, signaling a major relief for thousands of families. Emphasizing that “J&K lives in its villages,” Abdullah detailed a rural-centric strategy that significantly boosts the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Dairy sectors, including a new initiative to increase milk production by one lakh litres and the first-ever introduction of weather-based crop insurance for farmers.
To protect local interests, he also voiced concerns over the impact of the Indo-US trade deal on J&K’s walnut and almond markets, while simultaneously highlighting unique state-funded welfare measures such as free LPG cylinders and a ₹4,000 monthly allowance for orphans.
With a focus on the “Atmanirbhar” spirit, the Chief Minister further introduced Mission YUVA to empower youth entrepreneurship and mandated that subsidized industrial units prioritize local recruitment, reinforcing his government’s “whole-of-society” approach to regional prosperity.
