CM Omar Abdullah Launches JK e-Pathshala to Revolutionize Digital Learning in Jammu & Kashmir

JAMMU, January 08, 2026: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today marked a significant milestone in the Union Territory’s education sector by launching JK e-Pathshala (DTH Channel-53), a dedicated tele-education platform designed to bridge the learning gap for students in remote and far-flung areas.

Alongside the channel launch, the Chief Minister inaugurated two state-of-the-art digital studios and dedicated 1,010 newly completed school infrastructure projects under Samagra Shiksha to the public.

Highlighting the region’s progress, he also officially declared 14 districts of Jammu and Kashmir as fully literate. During the event, attended by Education Minister Sakina Itoo and other senior officials, the Chief Minister emphasized that while technology is a powerful tool to enhance learning outcomes, it is intended to supplement rather than replace the irreplaceable role of teachers and the physical classroom environment.

Addressing the gathering at the Convention Center, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shared personal anecdotes to underscore the vital impact of dedicated educators on a student’s journey.

He noted that JK e-Pathshala would be particularly beneficial in overcoming J&K’s unique geographical and climatic challenges, allowing students to continue their studies at home through high-quality broadcast content.

The Chief Minister urged the School Education Department to ensure that the channel’s content remains updated and relevant based on regular feedback from students and teachers. He further advocated for a balanced approach to digital consumption, encouraging students to use screens for knowledge-building while simultaneously fostering a deep-rooted habit of reading physical books and newspapers.

Looking ahead, the Chief Minister expressed his vision for an expanded digital ecosystem, potentially featuring dedicated channels for every grade level to ensure inclusive and comprehensive education for all children in J&K.
